In year six, the children learn to play the guitar and drums. They are taught by two very talented musicians. We also have a steel pans performance group who enjoy practising and perfecting the art of playing the steel pans. We look forward to their performances to the whole school in the spring term.
In year six, the children continue to develop their artistic skills. They are taught art by Lydia - who is our artist-in-residence.
In the autumn term, children in years five and six are taught to express their thoughts through poetry. These sessions are taught by poets who visit our school to deliver workshops. To make poetry even more exciting, a group from each class in years five and six is selected to perform in the St Margaret's poetry competition.
In the summer term, the year six children work collaboratively to create a product to sell to the whole school on "Enterprise Day". The children create business plans, research their product, undertake surveys and then pitch their product to Miss White who then provides them with a business loan to buy and create their product. It is an exciting time!
End of year production
At the end of the year, the year six children deliver a fantastic production to the whole school and to their parents.
Our year six children enjoy supporting the younger children at St Margaret's. During lunchtime, they volunteer their time to play with the younger children, teach them how to be friendly and to resolve conflicts successfully.
