Governor Details

Governor Attendance

There are currently no Governors with pecuniary interests.

Governor Recruitment:

  • Our Local Authority governor is appointed by Manchester City Council

  • Our Foundation governors are appointed by the diocese for Margaret Hancock, and the PCC for Claire Cowell.(PCC = St Margaret's Church of England Parochial Church Council)

  • Our Co-opted governors are voted on by a majority of the governing body.

  • Our Parents and staff are elected by the parents and staff respectively.

  • The headteacher and Revd Robert Boulter are ex-officio and therefore do not need to be appointed or elected.

  • The associate member is voted on by a majority of the governing body, but is not a governor and does not have voting rights.  

Committees

Teaching, Learning and Attendance Committee

A minimum of three governors shall be appointed to the Teaching and Learning committee.  The chair of governors is decided by the members of the Teaching, Learning and Attendance Committee.  The Headteacher will attend these meetings in an advisory capacity.

Overall purpose of the Committee

The overall purpose of the committee is to:

  • Monitor test results

  • Monitor the school curriculum

  • Monitor the school’s policies in relation to the curriculum

  • To recommend changes to these policies if needed

  • Monitor the schools sex education policy

  • Monitor provision for pupils with special educational needs or exceptional ability

  • Report to the full Governing Body on the effectiveness of these policies

  • Monitor the effectiveness of the school’s attendance policy and procedures and report its conclusions to the full Governing Body on an annual basis

  • To determine statutory targets relating to pupils attendance

  • To monitor progress towards these targets

 

Wellbeing, Safety and Behaviour

A minimum of four governors shall be appointed to the Wellbeing, Safety and Behaviour Committee.  The committee agrees which governor will be the chair.  The school Deputy Head will attend these meetings in an advisory capacity.

Finance, Staffing and Personnel

The Chair of Governors and the Headteacher shall be appointed to the Finance, Staffing and Personnel committee, and at least three other governors shall be elected as a member of the committee at the first meeting of the Governing Body each school year.  The Chair of Governors shall chair the Finance, Staffing and Personnel committee.  No governor who is a teacher or other staff member may be a member of the Finance, Staffing and Personnel committee.  The school Finance/HR administrator will attend meetings in an advisory capacity.  The school Finance/HR administrator will withdraw from meetings where necessary.
